The Cost of the Call: Why Following Jesus Will Cost You Everything

Grace is free. Discipleship is not.
🚨 Salvation Is Free, But Obedience Will Cost You
Somewhere along the way, we started preaching a Gospel that required no cross, no sacrifice, and no surrender. We turned the narrow road into a wide open highway with no tolls. But that’s not the Gospel Jesus preached.
Yes, the gift of salvation is free, you can’t earn it. But the call to follow Jesus? That’ll cost you everything.
📖 “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” — Luke 9:23
💸 Counting the Real Cost
You might lose friends. You might be misunderstood. You may have to walk away from the crowds, from comfort, from culture. You may have to forsake platforms, positions, and even popularity.
But the reward? Jesus. The presence of the King. The joy of obedience. The fullness of purpose. And the eternal weight of glory that far outweighs the temporary sacrifices.
🔥 The Call Isn't Just a Moment, It's a Life
Many people respond to a moment in an altar call… but few actually respond with their life. The call of Christ isn’t a vibe or a spiritual high. It’s a call to die daily.
This is where the modern church has misled people. We’ve sold a Gospel of comfort when Jesus offered a cross.
We’ve invited people to the table, but not to the altar.
📖 “In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” — Luke 14:33
🧱 What Will It Cost You?
It may cost you your reputation.
It may cost you your plans.
It may cost you your relationships.
It may cost you your dreams.
It will cost you your will.
But what you gain in return is everything that matters.
💥 Revival Starts With the Remnant
The future of the Church won’t be built on casual Christianity. It’ll be built on laid-down lovers of Jesus who aren’t afraid to lose their lives for His sake.
It’s going to take the ones who didn’t sign up for lights and applause but signed up to carry fire and obedience. It’s going to take those who’ve counted the cost and still said, “Here I am. Send me.”
🤔 Reflection Question:
Have I truly counted the cost… or am I only following Jesus when it’s convenient?
