🎯 Gifting Can Get You In Rooms — But Character Will Keep You There
We live in a world obsessed with charisma, and it’s created a celebrity status even within the Church. If you’re talented, gifted, or anointed, you’ll rise fast. You’ll get the mic. The followers. The platform. The influence. And it goes straight to your head, your ego begins to silence the voice of the Holy Spirit, and over time, its about you and not Christ.
God is not impressed by gifting. He’s the Gift Giver, what He’s given you isn’t even for you, it’s for others. What impresses Him is your faithfulness. Your integrity. Your character when no one’s watching.
📖 “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
🚨 The Danger of Giftedness Without Character
We’ve all seen it:
Leaders who preach powerfully but live double lives.
Worship teams dripping in anointing but drowning in pride.
Churches with excellent production… but no presence.
Congregants who proclaim their faith on Sundays, but live like the world the remaining 6 days of the week.
Gifting can be deceptive. It can look like God is blessing someone publicly while they’re falling apart privately.
But make no mistake: God will not promote what your character can’t sustain.
📖 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name...? And I will declare, ‘I never knew you.’” — Matthew 7:22–23
🔎 What Character Really Looks Like
Character isn’t perfection. It’s consistency in obedience.
Here’s what real character looks like:
🔐 Integrity when no one is looking.
🙌 Faithfulness in the small, unseen things.
🤫 Refusing to gossip even when it’s easy.
🧎♂️ Humility that submits to correction.
🙏 Private devotion that exceeds public display.
You don’t build character on a stage. You build it in the Secret Place.
💥 Gifting Attracts — But Character Impacts
The crowd may be drawn to your gifting, but they’ll be changed by your character.
Gifting entertains. Character transforms.
Gifting fills rooms. Character fills hearts.
Gifting builds platforms. Character builds people.
🧱 God Builds on Character
Jesus didn’t choose the most gifted men. He chose the most available. And He formed their character over time. He’s still doing that today.
Before David held the crown, he protected sheep.
Before Joseph ruled Egypt, he served in prison.
Before Paul changed nations, he was blind in obscurity.
📖 “Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance…” — Hebrews 12:1
🤔 Reflection Question:
Have I been prioritizing my gifting… or my character?
